Intentions

According to studies, many young STEM students have family members who work in the STEM field. So with this role model in mind and knowing what professional STEMs are, these students believe that it is important for their family. In addition, these references close to them are very close culturally and socially (they may be women, people from other ethnic groups, etc.). In short, these young people come from middle-class socioeconomic backgrounds with high STEM family capital. It follows that strategies such as promoting the STEM capital of families or contact with culturally/socially equal STEM professionals can positively influence their plans.
